Why do I need to register?

Before you can access either the forum or library or register for classes, you must create an account.

top

How do I register?

To create an account, visit the Create User Account page and complete the form, which will then go through an approval process. You may apply for a course while the form is pending approval, but you won’t be able to access the secure areas of the Web site until approval is granted.

top

I have a username and password. How do I log in?

After successfully registering, visit the Login page and enter your username and password.

top

I have already logged in. Why do I get logged off automatically?

Once logged in, you will be automatically logged off after an administrator-defined length of inactivity, usually 30 minutes.

top

If I forget my username and/or password, what should I do?

If you have forgotten your username and/or password, click the Forgot My Password link. You will be prompted to enter the email address you used to create your account. You MUST click the Confirm Password Reset button to reset your password (instead of just hitting the enter key). You will receive an email with a new, randomly-generated password. Once you receive your new password, you may login and change your password.

top

How do I change my password?

Once logged in, you may change your password from the Forum Profile page. To access the Forum Profile page, first click on the Forum button and then click your username at the top of the Forum page. The Change Password link appears at the top left of the Forum Profile page. You may also click the Change Password button that appears in the login section on any page of the website.

top

How do I change my username?

Unless the administrator has configured the site to allow username changes, you cannot change your username. If a change is possible, you can change your username from the Profile page in the forum.

top

What if I've registered but still cannot log in?

If you've registered and can't log in, check to make sure you have a valid username and password. If you are sure the username and password are valid, but still can't log in, you may require account activation or your account may be on hold. In this case, contact the Webmaster at nescawebmaster@nianet.org

top

I've logged in before, but now I can't. What do I do?

First be sure your username and password are correct. If you still can't log in, your account may have been put on hold or deleted due to inactivity. Please contact the Webmaster at nescawebmaster@nianet.org

What can I do if I get an application error while viewing course videos?

This error can occur for several reasons. Please try the following steps:

  1. Ensure you are using a current version of a Web browser that supports 128 bit SSL encryption. We recommend using Internet Explorer 7.
  2. Delete your temporary Internet files and cookies. In Internet Explorer, click Tools on the top menu and select Internet Options from the dropdown list. The buttons for deleting temporary Internet files and cookies are in the middle of the General tab of the dialog box. Close the current browser window and open a new browser window. Try accessing the page again.
  3. Ensure that SSL support is enabled in your browser. In Internet Explorer, click Tools on the top menu and select Internet Options from the dropdown list. Choose the Advanced tab on the dialog box. Toward the bottom, you will find checkboxes for "Use SSL 1.0," "Use SSL 2.0" and "Use TLS 1.0." Select these three boxes if they are not already selected. Close the current browser window and open a new browser window. Try accessing the page again.
  4. Turn off the personal firewall (such as Norton Internet Security or Zone Alarm) if installed on your computer. Close the current browser window. Try accessing the page again.
  5. Please submit a trouble ticket with a description if your problem still is not resolved.
