Innovative Engineering Course Completed |
Tue, 7 Oct 08 - Dr. Charles Camarda, former astronaut and current deputy director for advanced projects in the NASA Engineering and Safety Center, led a team of instructors and participants through an intense five-day Innovative Engineering course July 28-August 1 at Penn State University in State College, PA. The goal of the course was to help the 25 participants apply the techniques of creative thinking to solve a real-world NASA problem.

Principal Engineer Clint Cragg introduces the NESC Academy and its first offering, Active Thermal Control and Life Support Systems with Hank Rotter, originally presented in Texas in September 2005. A NASA engineer since 1963, Rotter talks about how viewing the International Space Station (ISS) as an integrated system will help NASA design new spacecraft. He emphasizes how much NASA has learned about living in space and how much is still left to learn.
